Patricia Schmidt
Running for Iosco County Commissioner District 5
 
Patricia is seeking a 4th term on the Iosco County Board of Commissioners as a Democrat.

She has resided and raised three children in Iosco County over the past 25 years. (Prior to that, she had resided in Monroe County.)  Patricia holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toledo and a Master's Degree in criminal justice/political science from Saginaw Valley State University.  She is self-employed part-time as a freelance court reporter.  She has previously worked as a mortgage loan originator, part-time political science instructor, and circuit court reporter. She is a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Tawas.

She is currently the Commission member of the following:
  • East Central Michigan Planning & Development Regional Commission
  • Iosco County Heritage Route Committee
  • Sunrise Side Coastal Highway Management Council
She has been a past Commission member or presently an alternate of the following:
  • 9-1-1 Board
  • Local Emergency Planning Commission
  • Commission on Aging
  • Children's Mental Health Consortium
  • Cistrict Health Department #2
  • Sand Lake/Little Island Lake Improvement Boards
In addition to its many functions involved in maintaining county government, as chief policy-making body of the county she feels the Board of Commissioners should be proactive in th economic development of our county as well as diligent in researching other revenue sources to replace dwindling federal and state assistance.
