Traitor in the White House?
President Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, said that any American who revealed the identity of a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent was a "traitor". Karl "Bush's Brain" Rove has admitted disclosing to a newspaper columnist that Valerie Wilson was a CIA agent. Therefore, is Karl Rove a traitor? He continues to work in the White House as the President's Deputy Chief of Staff. In 2004, President George W. Bush announced that no one in the White House was responsible for leaking Valerie Wilson's identity to the press and, if he learned that any of them were responsible, they would be fired. Last year, Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff, "Scooter" Libby addmitted he leaked Valerie Wilson's name to the press. Libby continued as the Vice President's Chief of Staff and Assistent to the President until after he was charged with five felonies. CIA agents have testified that the U.S. intelligence service has been damaged by such disclosures. These disclosures were to punish Valerie's husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson, for telling the truth: that President Bush had not told the truth in building support for his invasion of Iraq. As John Dean once said to President Nixon (about the Watergate scandal), there is a cancer growing on this presidency. Vote Democratic. |
